Plenty of Newcastle fans have responded on Twitter to the claims that they won the competition to sign youngster Reagan Thomson.

According to reports from the Sun, the 16-year-old has agreed a deal to move to United in principle before the upcoming January transfer window.

The story goes onto state that the central midfielder has been attracting the interest of both Celtic and Rangers, however, it was the Magpies who look to have won his signature.

Currently, the youngster has been plying his trade for Queens Park in Scottish League Two, getting to play his home games at Hampden Park.

What will the result be on Saturday vs Palace?

Despite his young age, he has some relative experience. He has been playing a fair bit of men’s football at that level, notching up nine games so far this campaign.

The Twitter page @NUFC360 shared the news to their followers on Twitter, to which there was a pretty mixed response. Some suggested it was a decent signing, some suggested it wasn’t such a good signing, and others joked about that being all of the club’s business done for the window. Here are some of the replies below…

Despite the Toon getting off to a pretty decent start in the Premier League, they will feel like there are lots of areas to improve in the squad.

A string of injuries to key wide men Allan Saint-Maximin, Matt Ritchie and Miguel Almiron have meant that they have been forced to play Joelinton on the wing, so perhaps a winger might be towards the top of the list for the club.
