The Premier League fixtures for the 2019/20 season were announced this morning, and loads of Newcastle fans instantly took to Twitter to share their thoughts on our schedule.
Our campaign will kick-off with a home tie against last season’s UEFA Europa League runners-up Arsenal, who last ventured to Tyneside on September 15, 2018.
The Gunners may have won that day, but we beat them the season prior 2-1, and will be hoping to repeat that April result come August, and give our campaign the start it needs.
If not, we go again in week two with a trip to the recently-promoted Norwich City, who return to the top-flight as Championship winners, having clinched the second-tier crown on 94 points, five more than runners-up Sheffield United; who we face on December 3, in a month which features a Boxing Day trip to Manchester United.
Thankfully, the schedule is pretty well spread out overall – a sentiment shared by some Magpies supporters on Twitter – but the campaign does feature a challenging end-of-term run-in, with Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool both set for Tyneside encounters in the final three weeks of the season.
Here’s how these Newcastle fans saw our 19/20 schedule…
Pretty well spread out difficulty tbh. I don’t see a month of doom.
