“Thanks for supporting us” – A lot of Newcastle United fans are behind Jeremy Corbyn’s stance on football owners.
Corbyn speaking in Newcastle claimed that he was going to target billionaire owners who have ruined clubs across the country and named Mike Ashley as an example – which did not go down well with the Sports Direct owner, and he released an official statement through the club.
The statement claims that Mr. Corbyn attacked Newcastle United and showed no knowledge of the national game.
The statement then goes on about the work that the Newcastle United Foundation do in the community, and they have invited Mr. Corbyn to attend one of these events.
This message from Jeremy Corbyn has clearly rattled Ashley, and the pressure is slowly starting to build on him.
This move made by Corbyn has gone down brilliantly on Tyneside with a lot of Newcastle United fans.

Thanks to @NUFC for quoting my comments about how "billionaire owners like Mike Ashley" are "ruining our national game".https://t.co/VsQn3Dheko

Well done JC. He has totally ruined a great club. But the man is not good at taking criticism. Keep it coming.#ashleyout
