Howe Hints That Newcastle Could Be As Big As Manchester United

|

During this morning’s pre-match media briefing, Eddie Howe was asked if he believed that Newcastle could become as big or bigger than Manchester United.

Howe, who always seems to know the right thing to say when faced with awkward questions, said: “I don’t like to put ceilings on clubs,’ he said. ‘Looking at my own history, Bournemouth were associated as a League One, League Two team.

“We have seen them grow into a Premier League club. So why not (Newcastle as big as Man United)?

“The aims of this club, with the ambition behind the scenes, are huge. We now have to try and deliver those huge ambitions. But there is no ceiling here.”

This comment comes off the back of the round table meeting with the media attended by Dan Ashworth and Darren Eales where the club’s ambitions were played up once again.

How Long Will It Take To Overtake Manchester United?

It Can't Be Done

There is no doubt about the direction the club is headed and the owners’ ambition that is driving that ambition, so like Eddie Howe says, there should be no ceiling on things like this.

Newcastle were once a global brand during the Keegan days, but years of mismanagement and neglect pulled the club away from the spotlight and where other clubs thrived, Newcastle fell behind. But now it’s our time.

We have the infrastructure in terms of personnel to grow this club beyond anything we’ve ever experienced, soon to be backed up by world-class facilities, more world-class players and hopefully, sooner rather than later, some silverware, putting an end to our trophy-less drought.
