‘He’s a dud’ – 8 Things Newcastle Fans Are Saying As Club Revive Interest in £16.5m Target Man

The Chronicle are reporting that the club are looking to revive their interest in West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon.

We were interested in the Venezuelan earlier this summer but felt that despite the striker’s £16.5m release clause, a move would prove too costly. Chronicle journalist Lee Ryder tweeted out this morning that the player’s agent has been in touch with the Magpies again:

Verdict:

With Mitrovic’s sale to Fulham looking likely, more funds could be available to secure a replacement striker. Although Rondon’s buyout fee is £16.5m, agent fees could increase the deal to over £20m.

Our interest is likely a backup plan if a move for Alassane Plea doesn’t come off. Nice are reportedly still holding out for £27m for the Frenchman, and while we are reportedly lining up a second bid, there are doubts whether we can agree a fee for the 25-year-old.
