“Will be welcomed back to Newcastle at any time” – A lot of Newcastle United fans are delighted with Mohamed Diame’s comments on the club.
Diame has claimed that apart from the top four Newcastle is the biggest club in England and that has gone down brilliantly with a lot of Toon fans on Twitter.
The 32-year-old spent three years on Tyneside, and in that time he became somewhat of a cult hero.
The former West Ham midfielder left Hull City – despite the fact he had just won them promotion back to the Premier League – to join Newcastle and helped them secure promotion from the Championship.
Diame was always one of the Toon’s hardest-working players and could be seen charging around the field to win the ball back for his side.
This summer his contract expired, and he could not agree terms on a new deal, so he departed the club, but his latest comments have ensured he will forever have a place to go on Tyneside.
