“Has he no shame” – A few Newcastle fans react as “tyre kicker” linked with £60m deal

|

A few Newcastle United fans have been reacting online to reports by The Sun that Peter Kenyon is trying to broker a takeover deal for Charlton Athletic.

Kenyon was spotted at the Valley on Saturday as Charlton drew 2-2 with Cardiff City, and comes after he was linked with launching an attempt to buy the Magpies with American-based consortium GACP Sports earlier this year.

The American group were adamant they had secured the funds to purchase United, but the structure of the deal proved to be a sticking point, with Kenyon failing to produce a proposal that satisfied Mike Ashley.

It seems Kenyon is potentially now acting as the middle man for someone else, as The Sun reported over the weekend that an American consortium are keen to complete a deal for Charlton after the Addicks were recently approached by two groups.

Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet values the Championship club at £60million after raising his asking price in recent months, and will sell if the figure is met.

Duchatelet’s right-hand man Joseph Lieberman is claimed to be heading Stateside soon for a summit, too, with Addicks negotiators potentially heading across the Atlantic to meet with the interested suitors.

A change in ownership at the Valley could bring a change to the dugout, as well, as it is noted that Lee Bowyer’s long-term tenure is still uncertain with his contract up at the end of the season.

Would you take Bowyer over Bruce?

Yes, absolutely

No, he isn't good enough

Here are some of the reactions offered…
