A few Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media after it was announced that our trip to Arsenal in February had been moved for live broadcast on Sky Sports.
The game will now take place on February 16 with a 16:30 kick-off, as part of the Premier League and Football Association’s agreement to have all fixtures during the round of games set to be affected by the first-ever mid-season break shown on TV.
Our first visit to the Emirates Stadium in the new decade will be the first Magpies game scheduled for after the winter break, with the Toon set to have the weekend of February 8 off.
The Premier League opted to split a round of fixtures during February over the course of two weekends, so that ten teams have one weeks rest and the remaining sides have the following weekend off.
Having the first of the two weekends off will mean Steve Bruce’s Toon host Norwich City on February 1 before having a 15-day gap between next taking to the field at Arsenal.
Is the winter break a good idea?
