Goalkeeper Sale Breaks Down Due To A Failure To Agree A Fee

|

Bringing in a player, on a transfer, can, sometimes, be a risky business.

Two summers ago, Rafael Benitez brought the Belgian keeper Matz Sels to the club, signing the player from the Belgian side Gent for £4.5 million, on a five-year contract.

The move, if we are, to be honest, didn’t work out and Sels was sent out on loan last season to Anderlecht.

With Benitez looking to sell some of his squad to raise money for squad additions, it was hoped that Sels would be joining Anderlecht on a permanent deal.

However, it is being reported by the news source, BT Sport, that any proposed deal has been abandoned after the two clubs failed to reach a fee for the 26-year-old.

With Newcastle United having signed Martin Dubravka on a permanent deal, the club will now, surely, be looking for another possible suitor for Sels.

However, our feeling is that in order to do so, Newcastle may have to make concessions when it comes to the selling price.
