It was a lovely and warm day on Tyneside today, yes we do get them but it was fitting for the kids and families to be greeted with it when Newcastle held their annual open day.

The open day with a fan zone as well as the chance for some people to see their heroes in the flesh attracted well over 10,000 fans and they were rewarded further with a training session from the players.

Aside from the kids teams playing on the St James’ Park pitch, the Newcastle United Women’s team was also in attendance for the first time to show a United front from all sides.

Joselu, pronounced (Hos-el-oo), got his first taste of our home ground and apart from our local paper The Chronicle reckoning he was bowled over with the turnout, they also released footage via their twitter feed of him scoring a decent half volley.

Admittedly, the Spaniard was unchallenged with no pressure whatsoever but it was decent nevertheless.

The day ended with penalties for the kids on the pitch and a day to remember before the rides and fan zone finished it off for another year. A thumbs up for the club and now they just have to crank up the quality of transfer and jobs a good un for this season.
