TEAMtalk are reporting that Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater is a target for the club. The 28-year-old could be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge with Leicester City, Southampton and Crystal Palace all believed to be keen on the midfielder.
The England international only joined the Blues for £35million from the Foxes last summer but his former club would like to sign the player on an initial loan deal before a permanent transfer.
I asked fans whether we should look to put in a bid for Drinkwater, and quite a few of you think he would be a good signing:
It’s likely our interest would be in view to a season-long loan deal if we were to make an offer before the end of the transfer window. Although we have signed Ki Sung-Yueng this summer, the sale of Mikel Merino and Isaac Hayden’s transfer request means another central midfield player could well be needed.
If Drinkwater is indeed deemed surplus to requirements but remains at Chelsea with the transfer window deadline looming, a loan move away could be possible. We shall see.
