Final whistle for Newcastle supporters?

So Chris Hughton is sacked. Many on here will recall me saying I thought he would be gone by Christmas and some will think I’m glad at today`s news.

Last night whilst travelling on the coldest train to Loughborough, I endured hundreds of juvenile students also heading my way. I accept not all students are the same but the day I support these plum-tongued idiots, in their efforts to cull their future fees, is the day I become one. At least I had my phone and TalkOfTheTyne to keep me company. Sadly, my signal was poor so I spent most of it waiting for pages to load.

I read Crom`s thread about Chris Hughton with interest. I saw he suggested the manager was running out of time and noticed he still had a lot of support on here. Whilst listening to various ‘and I was like’ or ‘Oh I know’ comments from around me, I looked out of the window at my reflection and wondered where I stood.

All last season I was seeing a different team than what most on here or my work mates were seeing. I often suggested we were very lucky to win games in the first half of the season and even said we were often out played. I know some of the older supporters on here, like me were critical of performances as well. I got called negative and even one poster suggested I support someone else.

I can handle peoples retorts quite well as it`s a fantastic forum with a great mix of people. I can handle people making threads about me and naming me in the title like last weekend. It`s only a forum and I’ve met nearly a dozen fans from different TalkOfTheTynes, so I can’t complain when someone calls me a **** or posts my name on here to get a rise. I actually like being able to rant about football and Newcastle United because I feel strongly about it and enjoy doing so. I do it in real life a lot too.

Last night I wrote a large reply for Crom’s thread about Hughton. Having waffled and ranted I pressed submit only for my phone to lose signal and lose my message. It takes me ages to write on a touch screen, it and as I was drinking over-priced Stella on the train, I forgot most of what I had written, so I didn’t bother re-doing it.

My lost post was that I wanted Hughton to stay because while Ashley is still here I feel it`s a waste of time changing managers. Hughton may well have been an Ashley man, he may have been very poor tactically in my view but it puts us back getting rid. We need rid of the owner and Hughton should have gone the same day the club was sold.

Today we are managerless, again. Beardsley is in control and Ashley is still here. Forgetting club statements as we know they lie to us, forgetting rumours or inside sources and forget bookies favourites because we know we are ******, because no manager worth his salt will want to be here. For the first time in my lifetime, I do not think we will make a worthy appointment.

My view now is we need a **** manager. A manager on par with Joe Kinnear, Graeme Souness or Sam Allardyce. Shocking I know, but fans need to get a grip of the club again and only by skydiving again will we be rid of the owner. People who suggested Ashley was doing a good job will need to stop forgetting what he has done and the fact he hates you as much as some of us hate him.

I’m looking forward to the Liverpool game, not the train ride back up, but at least we’ll go back to being anti-Ashley again as that should have never stopped because of promotion.

So why my thread title?

I’m fed up and have been a long time. When I was a kid I’d hear older fans saying they were disgruntled and giving it up but I couldn’t understand that. For 31 years I’ve been going and have missed very few. I missed more of Keegan`s first spell games than I did in the 80’s. I wouldn’t care to say how many it totals but I know I’ve been taking my daughter since she was 6 and she has over 250 home and away games and telling her I’m not going anymore is going to be tough but not as tough as finding something else to do while we are playing.

It`s not really about Ashley, or the fans who want Hughton to wave, it`s not about rising prices or the fact FIFA didn’t give us the World Cup. It`s **** all to do with anything other than I smell the death of the English game.

We are not the best league in the world, we do not have the best players either. We have a league than is run by an even more crooked bunch of men than FIFA. It`s all about money and I’m not rich enough to change what I don’t like.

We ask Championship teams to play in a knock out competition that renders the whole season of 46 games a waste of time. Play-offs are about money and not about excitement for fans. We have talk of a 39th game, which will inevitably come.

Yet my biggest grind is the players. I used to arrive 90 minutes before kick-off and join in the singing. We used to love our players no matter how shit they were cause they wore the Toon strip. We’d join in the team announcements prior to kick off and cheers them all, only toning it down half way through the 3 subs…

Now we have no affinity with the players anymore. I watch players cheat. Yeah cheat. They cheat each other, the other team`s players and their own team mates. They cheat the game rules and cheat the managers out of jobs. They cheat the end of season table and more importantly they cheat us, the fans.

We don’t count. We accept players play acting, pretending to be injured because it gets them fouls, they pretend to get injured to get taken off too. They dive, hold their faces and roll around like naff extras in a war film.

This is where the governing bodies are accountable and they let it happen. The managers allow it too, as do the press. We hear ex-footballers chat about it but rarely condemn it and commentators can be heard to laugh when it happens.

Yet we are conned, the fans have no say and I dare you to find one who likes it. We have no say about games being moved at short notice. Last season I bought tickets and hotels for two games away which were then made useless as the games were moved 4 weeks beforehand. We all want goal line technology to help the game and many would love TV evidence to ban the cheats but we don’t get it. We fall into the trap of blaming someone else, often the ref and it`s rarely ever his fault. It`s the people in suits, behind desks.

I’ve paid over 300 quid for this game for tickets as I’ve family and friends coming and I don’t love the beautiful game anymore. Players are allowed to earn money that turns them against the fans, we are scum to them. They live a pop star life style and are often in the news for wrong reasons. Driving bans, fights with fans, late night parties, rape allegations the list goes on.

The game is dying and it needs to be changed before we have loads of over-sized empty stadiums around the country. I don’t want to watch players like Nolan, looking disinterested and not giving his all I know I would and can’t understand why players today can rarely be bothered. I think today has simply helped with my decision.

Bollocks, I’m going to get ******…
