Newcastle’s Federico Fernandez sends message to fans on social media

|

Most people around the country, including footballers, seem to be abiding by the lockdown rules in place, but Jack Grealish crashing his car over the weekend shows that not everyone is taking the situation seriously.

He has since come out to apologise for his actions, while other professionals like Ashley Young have used social media to raise awareness about the seriousness of our current predicament.

Do you think the club will be taken over?

It is, therefore, a real positive to see Newcastle doing the same, with Federico Fernandez speaking directly to fans about what they must do to ensure they stay safe and healthy in these unprecedented times.

He reiterated warnings that have been made by the government – for people to stay at home in order to save lives and protect the NHS, which people have done in the main.

Hopefully players stepping up and speaking out encourages people to do as they say, as ultimately we want to see them back in action soon, but that will only be possible once the lockdown is ready to be lifted.

We saw last week that a Newcastle fan favourite, Nolberto Solano, was even arrested for breaking curfew in his native Peru, while UK citizens could face similar punishment if they are caught by police.
