Newcastle fans have not had a great time this season. Steve Bruce’s Magpies have hardly done their bit to emulate the great sides that have graced St. James’ Park. However, the fans have been given a reminder of one former favourite in their latest club post.
Yohan Cabaye netted a brace as Newcastle United defeated @WestHam back in January 2014, with the midfielder scoring this free kick to seal a 3-1 win at Upton Park.

The player in question is the sublime French midfield man Yohan Cabaye. Now 33-years-old, the central midfielder is currently plying his trade in Ligue 1 at St. Etienne and the last time he played in England was over a year ago now as he left Crystal Palace in summer 2018.
However, the Geordies have got amazing memories of his time as a Magpie. During Cabaye’s spell in the North East, he scored 18 goals in 93 games (Transfermarkt) in his two and a half seasons he spent with the club between summer 2011 and January 2014, and the fans still haven’t forgotten his talents.
You can read the Magpies’ thoughts on Cabaye here:
That was the last time we had a player who could score off a free kick.

The Newcastle fans absolutely adore Cabaye, and certainly won’t forget the Frenchman anytime soon.
