“Extra money for when we go down” – Some Newcastle fans are doubting latest news coming from the club

|

“With a release clause, no doubt” – A lot of Newcastle United fans believe that Martin Dubravka will leave the club in January – despite the fact he has just signed a new six-year deal.

Earlier today, Newcastle confirmed that the 30-year-old goalkeeper would remain on Tyneside for another six years to hopefully put to bed any speculation around Dubravka.

The Slovakian international joined Newcastle nearly two-years ago and has established himself as a superb Premier League goalkeeper making countless brilliant saves and playing a crucial role in the Magpies’ survival for the past two seasons.

Dubravka stated last month that he was close to signing the contract, and he was delighted to finally sign the deal.

However, there are still some Toon fans who think that this deal means nothing, and Dubravka will be sold soon.

I can see why they think this because it has happened before with the likes of Gini Wijnaldum and Yohan Cabaye, but Dubravka is 30 now, and it is unlikely the Toon will get that much sell on value from him.

So, I think this new contract is a sign of how much the club want to keep the Slovakian.

Either way, there is a mixed reaction from some Toon fans.

Some think this is a way to increase sell on value – while others believe that it is brilliant news for Newcastle.

See the best of the reaction below.
