‘Ever been a club that disrespected it’s fans as much’ – Loads of Newcastle fans rue club decision

Loads of Newcastle fans have been slamming the United board’s decision to raise season ticket prices for supporters not on long-term price freeze deals.

The announcement was made on Wednesday night ahead of this morning’s Premier League fixture release, which saw the Magpies named as the home side for our season opener against Arsenal.

However, while we now know who and when we are playing – barring any re-scheduled matches cropping up – we are still in the dark over Rafa Benitez’s future and as to how close or far away the rumoured takeover is from completion.

For the gaffer, his contract will expire in just over two weeks, at which point we may be left without a manager if Mike Ashley continues to refuse to meet the changes and assurances the Spaniard is chasing.

We also finished lower down the Premier League table in the 2018/19 season than the campaign before, despite putting one more point on the board. And yet, season ticket prices for the 2019/20 campaign have seen a rise of around 5% on average, with the most expensive standard ticket for adults now priced at £811.

The same ticket last year would have set supporters back £772, while students & senior citizens have seen the price of their category one tickets rise from £635 to £667, and Under 18s have seen theirs jump from £311 to £327.

A ticket in the family area, meanwhile, has risen from £397 to £417 for adults, £324 to £340 for students & senior citizens, and £82 to £86 for U18s.

As for category three tickets, these have jumped from £571 to £600 for adults, £457 to £480 for senior citizens & students, and £166 to £174 for U18s.

While category two tickets have increased from £628 for adults, £510 for students & senior citizens, and £207 for U18s to £659, £536 and £217 respectively.

Following the announcement of the price rise, this is how these Newcastle fans reacted…
