“So, they can sell them on in the summer” – A lot of Newcastle United fans are convinced that the two Longstaff brothers will be sold as soon as possible – despite reports claiming that the two are in contract talks.
The Longstaff pair started together for the first time in the Premier League on Sunday and were instrumental in a 1-0 win for the Toon.
The Evening Chronicle, after the game, claimed that the two are locked in contract negotiations, but many fans do not trust Mike Ashley, and they believe he will sell them both off as soon as a high bid comes in.
Newcastle fans are right not to trust Ashley, and the Longstaff pair could make the Sports Direct owner a lot of money in the summer – so these fans are right to be unsure about these contract rumours.
I hope the board sees sense and tie both of the Longstaff’s down to long-term deals.
