In a game featuring £30million worth of transfer talent (Alberto Luque and England`s Michael Owen) Glenn Roeder decided to start our record signing`s comeback with a light outing against Gretna. With Shola, the Zog, Ramage Damage and Luque all playing against the Scottish League One pacesetters, there was no surprise in the fact we won 4-1. Shola and EMO both scored, with the latter playing 75 minutes before coming off. Selective comments from Gretna players included:

? “He didn’t look rusty at all. He looked very sharp” – Gretna midfielder Erik Paartalu.

? ‘If that’s what he’s like after ten months out of the game, I’d hate to play against a fully-fit Michael Owen. He looked very sharp throughout and his link-up play was excellent. I don’t notice him heavy breathing either. Stamina wise, you just would not have thought that this was his comeback.’ – Gavin Skelton
