Plenty of Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media, after the club shared that Martin Dubravka was included in EA Sports’ Team of the Week.
Dubravka has been hailed as one of the world’s top-performing players from the weekend’s fixtures for his performance between the sticks against Wolverhampton Wanderers during Saturday’s 1-1 draw.
Head coach Steve Bruce required the Slovakian ‘keeper to produce crucial stops throughout the Premier League affair to leave Molineux with a share of the spoils.
Dubravka did well to deny Wolves pair Raul Jimenez and Pedro Neto from close range, while Sean Longstaff also produced a goal-line clearance to prevent Matt Doherty from scoring just after half time.
Wolves were enjoying the final 15 minutes of the first half vastly more than the travelling Magpies were when Dubravka did brilliantly to turn Jimenez’s effort wide, and pilled on the pressure again as full time approached before our 31-year-old ‘keeper would push Neto’s diving header away.
Dubravka’s instinctive reflex save to deny Jimenez with an outstretched leg from close range saw him lauded by Sky Sports as the Man of the Match ahead of Miguel Almiron, after the Paraguayan enjoyed an influential and goalscoring day in the Black Country.
Who was the MOTM at Wolves?
Dubravka
Almiron
Dubravka has been one of the busiest goalkeepers in the Premier League this season, with no shot-stopper forced into action on more occasions than the £6.3million-rated star having produced 90 saves to Arsenal’s Bernd Leno (83) and Brighton’s Mat Ryan (80).
Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to the club’s post on Twitter celebrating Dubravka’s inclusion in EA Sports’ latest Team of the Week…
