Dominic Calvert-Lewin Rumours Intensify

|

Everton have survived relegation with a game to spare sparking scenes the likes of which rarely seen at Champions League finals. Their saviour, Dominic Calvert-Lewin who bagged the winner against Crystal Palace confirming the Toffees’ safety, is likely to be sold in the summer.

After having spent over £500m and somehow going backwards, Everton find themselves in serious danger of breaching FFP (Financial Fair Play) rules and as a result will need to ship some of their biggest stars in order to make ends meet. Avoiding relegation may have eased the burden slightly meaning they don’t need to have a full-blown fire sale, but clubs will be circling like vultures to pick off their better players.

Enter Newcastle United who have a strong interest in their English forward, with The Chronicle claiming that representatives of Dominic Calvert-Lewin (25) paid a visit to St James’ Park recently. The England International will be seen as an ideal player to move on in order to recoup some money. He’s young, English, capped at international level and a proven goalscorer – all things that command a hefty price tag usually.

Newcastle, however, will be looking to box clever in the transfer market, and like in January, are unlikely to be bullied into paying over the odds. They will be well aware of Everton’s plight and will look to negotiate hard on any deal.

Calvert-Lewin, much like our current talisman, has had his injury problems this season, but has hit the ground running on his return. A potential all-English partnership of Wilson and Calvert-Lewin is a mouth-watering prospect and, if it comes off at Newcastle and clicks, could even be seen in Qatar with many pundts singing the praises of Callum Wilson as a potential England striker.
