Kenedy has revealed that he could stay on Tyneside beyond the end of the season.
Up until now Rafa has been coy on whether the Brazilian will remain at the club after his loan spell ends this summer, but speaking to UOL (translated by the Chronicle), the winger hinted he would love to continue playing for us:
‘If it`s good for everyone, it would be a pleasure to continue wearing the shirt of this great team. This new phase of my career in Newcastle`s shirt makes me very happy.’
The reaction on Twitter to his comments were almost unanimously positive although some doubted whether Ashley would invest the money needed to sign him on a permanent basis:
Sign him up for the love of god.

Regardless of league position, it’s got to be better playing infront of our fans at SJP than at The Bridge.

All good & positive coming from Kenedy but, it’s ALL down to the fat man to cough up. Will he !!

#NUFC the best place he could be he fits right in, players don’t realise (until the gone), in Newcastle you have 52.000 passionate people believe in you and that’s exactly what growing players need, he can be number 1here, will any of the top 5 teams/support say he’s no1?

Until our pocket is picked by Palace, Everton, Wet Spam, Swansea et al.

Bags of potential. even another season loan (touch wood we stay up) would be a bonus.

It`ll be an honour to see Kenedy wearing the Burnley shirt next season after we graciously step aside after baulking at a £12m fee. #nufc

He will be back at Chelsea next season for sure

Verdict:
Our current no.15 has been superb for us during his short stay. I would still like to see how he performs over the long term, but he would be well worth the reported £15m outlay on the evidence we’ve seen already.
Much will depend on what transfer budget the manager gets in the summer especially if we remain under the same ownership. It has been reported that there will be a bigger war chest to buy players but I will wait until I see the new signings wearing the shirt before I believe that.
