“Dead in the water”, “Won’t get the green light” – Some NUFC fans left angered by takeover news

Some Newcastle United were annoyed by the latest revelation in the long-winded saga is the club’s ongoing takeover talks with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

According to Miguel Delaney of The Independent, a decision on the accepted Β£300m bid for the Tyneside club is expected to be made “mid-June” and is still unlikely to be settled “for some time”.

The lack of communication between the club and the Premier League to the fans is causing great unrest in the North East, with no official confirmations or statements being released about the ongoing talks.

Will PIF takeover the club?

Yes

No

No

If the move does go through, it will bring to an end Mike Ashley’s 13-year reign of terror, a moment that we have all waited for.

Because of this, supporters were left frustrated by Delaney’s update on the ongoing takeover talks and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan believes the deal is now “dead in the water”, while another feels that we “won’t get the green light” from the Premier League.
