Rumours are growing Andros Townsend could leave Crystal Palace this month, which has seen Newcastle credited with an interest in re-signing him with rivals Middlesbrough also reportedly interested.

Townsend decided to take is leave of Newcastle following relegation from the Premier League last season. He was linked with various clubs before joining up with former Magpies boss Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace when they met his relegation release clause.

Following the sacking of Pardew and arrival – of another former Newcastle boss – Sam Allardyce it could well be that Townsend’s days at Crystal Palace are numbered with him failing to live up to expectations.

Which has seen it reported Rafa Benitez is interested in bringing the 25 year old back to St James’ Park.

The Mirror has gone as far to claim Allardyce is ready to offload Townsend with his Crystal Palace career over after just six months!

However, with Crystal Palace looking to recoup the £13m paid to Newcastle in the summer they will only sanction a permanent transfer. These reports claim we’re only willing to do a loan deal for Townsend meaning his St James’ return probably isn’t going to happen.
