Aside from the takeover talk and the forthcoming transfer window, other pressing concerns are on the horizon for Newcastle.

That being probably the most crucial and most certainly energy zapping part of the season.

When we kick off our first ever game at West Ham’s public paid stadium on Saturday, it will signal the start of four games in 216 hours of real time. NINE days. Madness when you think of it.

After West Ham, it’s Man City at St James’ the following Wednesday night with Brighton following on the Saturday before we travel to Stoke just two days later to finish the spree.

Cast your minds back to the end of August when we had barely started to kick a ball and were fairly fresh, we played West Ham at home on the 26th August before finding our next match away to Swansea some FIFTEEN days later. Regardless that one or two played internationals in that gap, it’s just plain stupidity.

Maybe this is coming to light for us more as we’re at the wrong end of the table with a weaker squad but it could also play it’s part of the top end of the table if injuries or suspensions hit at the wrong time.

Wonder if Rafa mentions this in any of his future press conferences because I know some managers will.
