Some Newcastle United fans were left fuming after a report suggested that midfielder Matty Longstaff is being chased by a club in Europe.
Sky Sports revealed that Longstaff has been offered a five-year contract by the Serie A outfit Udinese and double the salary to what we offered him.
Should we keep Matty Longstaff?
Yes
No
The report adds that he recently turned down a £15k-a-week offer and have not tabled the revised offer that he had hoped for from his boyhood club.
Longstaff’s current deal is set to expire once the 2019/20 campaign is brought to an end and has scored three goals in 12 appearances in what is his maiden year in the first team.
Because of this, supporters were not pleased with the report and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that the decision was “criminal”, while another described it as “disgraceful”.
Criminal decision from the club.

Sounds like Ashley/Charnley have been trying to get him to sign a contract for HALF the amount that Udinese are offering Ashley thinks just because he’s a local lad that he can under pay him & get him to sign a far less wage than everyone else is offering absolutely scandalous😡 pic.twitter.com/N1CUknvv46

This is disgraceful from the club and the premier league. Losing some of our first good local talent in years because of their inaction.

The club have made a real mess of this. For the player its a great opportunity to fully develop in a different league & culture.
Should not have come to this but wish him nothing but the best if he goes. #nufc

To lose this local lad would be shocking. He’s got great potential. Only 20 years old. I hope we somehow convince him to stay.
