With plenty of reasons for cheer ahead of the November international break as Newcastle United picked up their first and second wins of the 2018/19 Premier League season with narrow victories over Watford and Bournemouth, fans are rightly on a small high.
Having entered the international lull in the right manner, news that defender Paul Dummett has picked up an injury and has now withdrawn from the Welsh international side will be a blow to manager Rafa Benitez’s plans if the problem proves to be anything too serious and the 27-year-old is out for any length of time.
The player started their 2-1 defeat to Denmark, but was replaced in the 39th minute having sustained the problem and Benitez has given him ten top-flight appearances so far this year.
Fans were less than pleased as they gave their reactions on social media to the development.
This is why I hate internationals!!!!!

Exactly why we should never want any Newcastle player to play for any international team. Nothing good will ever come of it.

Everyone else’s players come back unscathed. It’s textbook nufc

Desperately hope it’s not serious

We’ve needed a left back for years, cover & competition. Yet another example of Ashley’s neglect.

Benitez does have options and he’s played Kenedy there previously in place of Dummett, but just as form was turning we certainly didn’t want any unexpected complications on the selection front.
