Contact made: Newcastle appear to be ready to finally start their January window – report

|

It’s been a slow January transfer window for Newcastle. We’re yet to sign a single player, and Mike Ashley hasn’t really shown any intention to change that.

However, it appears as though the tide could be turning, as per a recent report from the Chronicle Live. They’re reporting that Newcastle have made initial enquiries with contacts in Italy, Spain and Portugal regarding potential loan signings.

Forward Moise Kean is mentioned by name as a potential target, with Newcastle reportedly scouting the forward in recent weeks.

Even if nothing comes of any of this interest, this is still good news for the Magpies. We’re in desperate need of reinforcements, and the fact that the club are apparently willing to make initial contact does suggest that, at the very least, the board are open to bringing in a few new faces.

That’s a lot further than we’ve got up until this point in the transfer window.

It’s taken a while to get things started, but if we can end the window strongly, all will be forgiven.

In terms of what we need? A new forward would be fantastic, given Joselu’s struggles, whilst further depth in midfield is also essential. We really just need new faces to help freshen things up, and the sooner we get them, the better.
