Congolese Star’s Departure Held Up As Newcastle Demand Extra £1.75m

|

Chancel Mbemba’s move to Porto is being held up as we are holding out for an extra €2m (£1.75m), according to A Bola.

The Portuguese newspaper reports we are demanding €9m (£8m) for the Democratic Republic of Congo international, while it seems the Primeira Liga club will only pay €7m (£6.25m).

It looks as though the centre-back has discussed personal terms with Porto, with a four-year-contract having reportedly already been agreed in principle.

A Bola say that usually, in these circumstances, when a transfer has been drawn out such as this, the club would have simply moved on, but it seems the Portuguese side are determined to bring in a defender, and Mbemba fits the bill.

The 23-year-old signed from Anderlecht for a reported £8m back in 2015, and it appears the club are looking to recoup nearly all of what they paid for the centre-half.

Should we cut our losses or should we hold out for our asking price? Let me know in the poll:
