Our failure to beat a rank awful Hull side, devoid of confidence themselves, summed up just why a call to Terry Venables might be our only hope of staying up. Once again Hughton managed to excel, with the inclusion of a half-cooked, barely fit Michael Owen ahead of a fit, in form Peter Lovenkrands from the start, where everyone could see Owen`s poaching skills would be better off being unleashed for the last 30 minutes.

Don`t even get started on the Smith-Geremi axis of evil in the midfield. Quite simply the footballing equivalent of Laurel and Hardy as they bumble their way through the match doing exactly nothing. Whilst Hughton probably thought he was doing the right thing dropping Taylor after his Man Utd mistake, realistically he dropped a serious bullock replacing him with either of those two jokers.

Couple that with Duff`s complete exclusion and what confidence can we possibly take from the clueless coach being in the dugout again for the Gooners game? Hardly inspiring.
