Club Want ‘Contribution’ From Newcastle To Sign Defender On Loan

|

Genoa are working on a deal to sign Achraf Lazaar on loan, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.

However, the Serie A club are looking for a “contribution” from us to the player’s salary in order for the temporary move to go ahead.

The Moroccan international is believed to be on €1.1m a year, and Calciomercato.com report that the Italian side have only offered to pay half of his wages.

Genoa are not exactly strapped for cash. Lazaar is likely to replace Diego Laxalt who is set to sign for AC Milan in a deal worth €18m.

Yet, it seems a compromise will need to be reached. La Gazzetta report that the two sides are working hard to come to an agreement, and they expect the green light will be given from Rafa Benitez for a loan to be finalised.

Serie A’s transfer window closes on Friday so Genoa don’t have long to make a deal happen.
