Club Issue Update On Joelinton

|

Joelinton was stretchered off the field within the first ten minutes at Turf Moor during Newcastle’s final game of the season against Burnley.

Player of the Season, Joelinton, went down on half way after challenging for a high ball. It wasn’t really clear what had happened to the battling midfielder but it quickly became apparent that his game was over early. You could see the pain on his face as the medical team examined his right foot, and the stretcher was waved onto the pitch.

Even though he left Turf Moor on crutches it has been revealed that the injury is not as bad as expected having suffered a deep laceration as opposed to any muscle or bone damage. Eddie Howe said after the game, “It didn’t look good, I could see by the way he went down I thought ‘This could be serious'”

“Apparently it’s a deep laceration, I think the doctor, initially when he saw him, could see part of his bone, so I think it was quite deep down, but he’s in good spirits in the dressing room. He had a boot on and said he was OK, so that’s great news.” (via The Chronicle)

While not exactly great news, it’s still a lot better than it could have been for Joelinton as picking up a serious injury and hampering his pre-season would have been a huge kick in the teeth for the Brazilian after such a fantastic season.
