Newcastle fans have got a lot of love for Sean Longstaff. The young midfield man has become one of the fan favourites at St. James’ Park, and now the club themselves have wished their homegrown star a happy birthday on Twitter as he’s turned 22-years-old.

A lot of fans, though, have made the connection between Longstaff’s birthday and his latest game, in which he received a red card against Wolves in the Premier League. This means he’s now set for a weekend off around his birthday which is followed by a two-week break for international fixtures.
This means that the Geordie youngster is now facing three weeks off, and whilst he’ll still be in training and keeping himself fit and sharp, the fans have been quick to make the joke that his ban has fallen conveniently around his birthday.
You can see what the Magpies have has to say about Longstaff here:
Get a red just before your birthday weekend, clever lad

Whilst we’ve got no doubt the midfielder’s ban and his birthday have coincided is purely a coincidence, the fans have had fun with making the jibe.
