Been thinking that this was a free game all week in that we’re expected to lose. However, upsets can and do happen with Burnley already winning at their place this season.

Been ages since we’ve had an opponent sent off and even longer since we’ve had a penalty so you never know, although a display like the one at Man Utd with less mistakes will do for me.

That said, aside from the Cisse wonder goal game and a league cup win, we get less than crumbs at their place so a point would be excellent.

The biggest issue today is in nets and I reckon Karl Darlow will keep the gloves. I also reckon that Rafa Benitez will drop Chancel Mbemba as good as his interceptions were at West Brom as his distribution put us under pressure a few times. Today’s aim will be to get on the ball as much as we can and keep it.

The striker spot has been the main talk this season but it’s Joselu again up front I reckon. Yes, he may not hit a barn door from three yards but he’s getting picked for his graft and today will be all about it.

My predicted starting XI.

Darlow
Yedlin, Clark, Lejeune, Manquillo
Ritchie, Hayden, Shelvey, Murphy
Perez
Joselu
