‘Can’t we have nice things’ – These Newcastle fans react to United target’s international show

|

Some Newcastle supporters have been reacting on social media after Salomon Rondon struck twice against the United States Men’s National Soccer Team on Sunday.

Rondon’s Venezuela faced the USMNT as the American’s prepared for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup, who found themselves three goals down inside 36 minutes and were booed off the pitch at half-time as Gregg Berhalter’s side lost for the second time in five days.

Sloppy defending and careless goalkeeping played a key part in the USMNT’s collapse at the Nippert Stadium, home of FC Cincinnati, where goalkeeper Zack Steffen showed early signs of what was still to come in the 16th minute; when his lousy pass out of the box went straight to Venezuela’s Yangel Herrera, who fed Jhon Murillo who in-turn assisted Rondon’s first of the night.

The West Bromwich Albion forward, who is still a target of Rafa Benitez, got his second of the night in the 36th minute to become Venezuela’s all-time top ‘scorer with 24 international games to his name, after beating his marker Aaron Long with a direct run straight through the centre of the United States defence.

Rondon will now be hoping to stretch his lead as Venezuela’s all-time top ‘scorer in the Copa America, which commences for the 29-year-old against Peru on Saturday, before Group Stage encounters with Brazil and Bolivia.

When his goals were later shared on Reddit, this is how these Magpies supporters reacted…
