It’s been reported by local media that Newcastle United are supposedly optimistic that we can eventually sign mooted long term target Remy Cabella.

Depending on which rumour you believe, the talk is that we’ve made an improved offer of anywhere between £9.5m to £12m.

Previous speculation had us making a fairly low offer in the region of £7m which was turned down by Cabella’s French employers, Montpellier, who wanted to see if he made any progress in the French world cup side to bump up his asking price.

Unfortunately for some parties, the 24 year old never stepped on the Brazillian grass.

Any expected new bidders have so far remained stagnant which pretty much paves the way for us to be favourites for the signature and with a desperate need for attacking players, we should see some movement either way in a conclusion for this player.

The fact that the player has made it known that he wants to come to St James’ Park is seen as a positive.
