We know the story now. Newcastle United under Mike Ashley only do business for big cash for players that they class as ‘purple’

What happens to that cash is the major discussion point in the pubs, clubs and living rooms afterwards with most complaining of it being pocketed or not invested where it matters the most.

On the pitch.

That’s partly the reason why transfer figures don’t really get us excited as fans as we just want to see the best squad possible out there at a price that isn’t gonna jeopardise our future.

A challenging squad that has an ambition shared by everyone to do as well as we can rather than to just exist for prize money.

So with the speculation linking Yohan Cabaye to PSG or whoever and us willing to sell at a big price, we’re not too happy.

Some of us have followed the club for over 40 years with others even longer, so selling the best players when we don’t need to, will always rankle and get the blood boiling.

The younger generation are brought up on false scenarios played out on Football Manager and get their kicks from incoming fees which are then gobbled up by tales of spin, deceit and bull.

(changing the words of the song)

Don’t sell Cabaye, Yohan Cabaye, problem is, that we understand….. that if we sell Cabaye, Yohan Cabaye, the club will be an also ran.
