Bumper Verbal Contract Offered By Newcastle To Barcelona Target

|

Newcastle, Chelsea and Barcelona are all vying for the signature of hot prospect, Yousouffa Moukoko from Borussia Dortmund.

According to The Standard, Newcastle have gone in with a verbal offer of £150,000 per week to sign in the summer when his Dortmund contract expires.

Dortmund are struggling to meet the wonderkid’s demands and it seems it will take a club with the financial clout of Newcastle to cater to his demands.

The young striker, born in Cameroon, represents Germany at international level and at 18 years old, already has two senior caps to his name after representing Germany at all levels. He has 11 goals in 44 appearances f0r Dortmund and as a result, has caught the eye of several clubs around Europe.

The Newcastle hierarchy are super aware of the FFP restrictions so it would make sense that they would be targeting free transfers to bolster their ranks next season, it also aligns with the club’s policy of bringing in young players with exciting futures.

I’m still taking this one with a pinch of salt at the minute – a verbal approach means nothing, and the Standard article reads like another journalist linking Newcastle with a high-profile player purely because of their financial clout. The article even opens with “Oil Rich Newcastle” which just screams lazy journalism.

However, I’m all for Newcastle stocking up on wonderkids and gradually bringing them into the first team – it’s the smart play to keep on the right side of FFP, and it’s worked for Manchester City, they’ve kept a few and sold some on for huge profits. There’s no reason we can’t emulate that.
