Brazilian Striker Would Love To Join Newcastle

|

It was recently revealed that Newcastle had an interest in Gabriel Barbosa, or Gabigol, as he is known.

The Chronicle now reports that that interest goes both ways with the striker apparently very keen on a move to Tyneside.

Gabigol was offered to Newcastle in January on loan with a £17m option to buy but opted instead to take Chris Wood away from Burnley in a shrewd bit of business that got Newcastle a new striker and weakened their relegation rivals.

Now it seems that Barbosa has not forgotten this and his representatives are open to discussions about bringing the striker from Brazil to the Premier League, but they remain realistic, knowing full well that the Magpies have other targets in mind.

Who Would You Prefer At Newcastle?

Gabriel Barbosa

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Barbosa is determined to prove himself in Europe again following a poor spell at Inter Milan where he only managed one goal in the 2016/17 season following a €29.5m move. Now the 23-year-old has regained his confidence back in his native Brazil for Flamengo and feels now is the right time to prove what he can do.

Despite his blistering form in his home country, he still isn’t high on Newcastle’s list of targets so he will have to wait if any move is to be made.

I’m sure, given what I’ve seen on social media, that fans would rather have a punt on Gabigol than Dominic Calvert-Lewin who sits pretty high on Eddie Howe’s list of targets.
