The ex-Ipswich player will be offered a new contract in the final year of his current deal, but don’t rule out a move away from Newcastle the first time a decent offer comes Roeder’s way.

The 24-year-old has many critics, and don’t think he has won Roeder over, because that is far from the case. But Bramble was an expensive transfer, and there is still a high price on his head.

And the club don’t want him to slip away on a Bosman.

Roeder: ‘I have been very pleased with Titus. He did very well for me and for this football club then, and he has done very well again this season.

‘Titus is now in the final year of his contract. That side of things is looked after by the chairman but he consults me about whether I want to keep a player or not and I’m very happy with Titus.’
