Botman’s on his way!

|

Well, it seems we are now in the final stages of this longwinded saga and it’s looking like Eddie Howe has the man he wanted.

Sven Botman has been Eddie Howe’s No 1 defensive transfer target this summer; Newcastle has signed goalkeeper Nick Pope and defender Matt Targett so far this summer. The 22-year-old dutchman should be the last defensive player to be secured in this window and we can look further outfield with deals still in the offing. Newcastle still needs to invest in midfield, on the wings and upfront if they want to forge ahead this season and push for the top half or even a euro placing.

Earlier today, The Chronicle revealed that Newcastle had increased their bid. However, they reported that Lille was imploring the 22-year-old to accept the move to Tyneside with AC Milan out of the running. It now appears that he has. Hopefully, all of this breaking news is accurate and Sven Botman will finally be joining Newcastle after a six-month pursuit. We won’t get our hopes too high until we see him on Tyneside for his medical and wearing the famous black and white.

The usually dependable Fabrizio Romano tweeted today that the deal was in the final stages, many on Tyneside had grown tired of the back and forward of negotiations and had urged the club to move on as it has done with the Hugo Ekitike bids.

No doubt there will be much more of this seesawing of negotiations and being linked with worldies, regardless let’s keep the faith, we will all be doing the BOTMAN at SJP soon.
