Newcastle United fans have not had too much to shout about this season as their club is still waiting for a Premier League victory 10 games into the campaign, scoring just six goals in the process.
Rafael Benitez’s side is in need of a huge boost when the January transfer window reopens and, while the mid-season window is months away from opening, the club confirmed a significant deal today in the form of a new contract.
Jamaal Lascelles has put pen to paper on a new six-year deal at St. James’ Park, tying the Magpies’ captain down until 2024 and strengthing the club’s control on his future.
While the 24-year-old continues to be linked with the likes of Chelsea, Lascelles’ willingness to pen a new deal shows he is dedicated to the cause and, should push come to shove, Newcastle can now expect a higher price if they do agree to a sale.

He’ll be the best defender in the championship next season. No doubt

Wow! Didn’t see that coming. Either he knows something or there’s a clause. Either way, I don’t care – great news!

Put him on a long term contract so we can get more coin for him when he goes !

Good news but that won’t stop Ashley from selling him given the chance.

Least Ashley will be able to demand a canny fee to go straight into his back pocket if we get relegated back to the championship come May

Will fund our championship budget if we go down.

So you mean you’ve added 7 mil onto his price tag when the first bidder comes in for him and inevitably sell
