On the evidence of the opening two fixtures of the 2018 / 2019 Premier League season, it would appear that Newcastle United face a hard struggle to match, or indeed improve on the 10th position achieved last season.
The two aforementioned fixtures have yielded just the solitary point and the much-needed investment that wasn’t forthcoming in the summer could come back to haunt us big-time.
It must be hugely frustrating for Rafael Benitez as he sees his ambitions for the club thwarted by the purse strings being pulled tightly shut.
Rafa is now in the last year of his contract and, unless matters change behind the scenes, we can’t see him putting pen-to-paper on another deal.
Today, lurking in the media is the insinuation that an escape route could be set to open up for the Spaniard.
According to the news source, the Mirror, Rafa is wanted by the Chinese Super League side, Tianjin Quanjian.
No doubt, if an offer were to be made it would see Rafa offered a huge salary but, here at Vital Newcastle United, we are not sure it is a position our boss would be interested in. We are of the opinion that Rafa remains an ambitious man and although Chinese football is an emerging force, does it have that certain something that would inspire Rafa? We think not!
But, what are your views on the above subject matter?
Could the friction behind the scenes at St James Park see Rafa take the Chinese escape route?
