The further the national side keeps itself away from Newcastle United the better for various reasons and that’s not just because of the latest debacle.

Personally speaking, the set up of former Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce was something and nothing. So what, he spoke of former employees behind their backs or the other things caught on secret camera.

It’s something we’re all guilty of in one way or another in our lives.

The bending of rules and what not, is a different kettle of fish but the way in which Allardyce was caught out will be a hindrance to whoever is targetted next.

One person that I thought may get mentioned is our own Rafa Benitez but I thought he’d rule it out for many reasons with the main reason being that he was after a project, a blank canvas of sorts and he seems to have been given that here.

Why walk away from that for a life of World scrutiny?

As it is, the question came up yesterday in his pre-match press call and it was reported in today’s local newspapers.

The Chronicle stating that Benitez laughed the issue off before saying: I just came here. No chance,I am really focused on Newcastle.

That’s the end of that then.

The Newcastle links dont end there though with former boss Alan Pardew and Newcastle fan Steve Bruce amongst the bookies favourites.
