With a dark cloud hanging over the head of one of our greatest players in his alleged conduct whilst coaching the academy players here at Newcastle United, as things stand, Peter Beardsley is still officially away doing gardening duty.
Whilst I’m not sure how big ‘Pedro’s’ garden is, the time the investigation over proposed racial comments has taken is pretty synonymous with how the club is run nowadays in that nothing is done as straightforward as it seems to be done at other football clubs with the official line still being that there is a thorough investigation ongoing.
The last couple of days has seen a few interesting twists with The Mail releasing a story the other night saying that Beardsley has been found to have said the discriminatory words that created this whole mess before Beardsley’s legal team released a statement the following day to state that they know nothing of any verdict and that his innocence is still being claimed. Today saw a whole batch of academy kids leave the club including one of the alleged victims of discrimination to add another spin on it.
With no news forthcoming yet to the findings of the investigation, it seems as if the path is already set out to make it as easy to tread as possible if the result of it sees Beardsley continue in his role.
