Some Newcastle United fans have been discussing whether or not a bid for Hull City sensation Jarrod Bowen would be a risk or not.
The 22-year-old winger has frequently been linked with a move to St. James’ Park, with speculation claiming Toon scouts have been watching Bowen in recent weeks and are weighing up a move.
Norwich City have also been credited with an interest, along with AFC Bournemouth as they search for the long-term successor to Ryan Fraser at the Vitality Stadium, who is expected to leave the Cherries for free next summer.
Bowen is a highly sought-after talent with his contract at the KCOM Stadium also set to expire in the summer, although the Tigers have tabled a new and improved deal running to 2022.
The Championship star has desires to play top-flight football, though, and is expected to deliberate Hull’s proposal at length before deciding on his future.
Would you sign Bowen?
Yes, make a move in January
Yes, but wait until the summer
No, he isn't proven in top-flight
Tigers owner Assem Allan is insistent that Hull will not sell Bowen in January, having told ITV News Calendar last month: “We resisted [offers] six months ago, and we hope we will be successful in keeping Jarrod again.
“I wouldn’t sell him for £20million.”
Bowen has been in terrific form at the KCOM this term, with a goal contribution of 18 across 21 second-tier games, consisting of 16 goals including four braces prior to facing Charlton Athletic on Friday night, plus one goal in the Carabao Cup.
Ten of those strikes have come from the right-wing, plus two of his assists, along with three goals as the centre-forward and two as a second striker.
Here are some of the messages shared as fans discussed whether or not the club should target Bowen…
Don’t see it as a risk one bit. Should be our absolute no.1 target.

Scoring goals in the Championship is very different to scoring goals in the Premier League. Just ask messrs Gayle and Mitrovic.

Need some competition for Almiron on that side as well as a goalscorer to sure us up, not sure how well he does in our system but worth the punt, that and making Willems permanent, potentially a loan although perhaps a bit much, comes across as good business to me

Would be a brilliant signing

I hope so mate

He’s too good to come to us now, other clubs will be noticing him. We missed our chance imo.

If we got him I’d genuinely drop Almiron and use him as rotation

I can only say he’s good prospect but still not that great. If not Hull should be in better position
