Derby’s wonder kid Giles Barnes is again being lined with a move to St James’ this summer, a move that was meant to be close in January but couldn’t be arranged before the January transfer window closed by all accounts.

The 19-year-old has struggled with injuries this season so has been unable to make much of an impact on Derby’s season as they have struggled to cope with life in the Premier League, but Kevin Keegan has seen enough for him to be interested in bring the talented youngster to St James’ in the summer.

A transfer fee of £5million is being reported, but is Barnes the right player for the Toon?
