An Australian media site today reported an exclusive in which they said that Newcastle had bid for Aaron Mooy.

SBS saying that we were one of a number of clubs after the 26 year old midfielder.

Mooy belongs to Man City but is currently on a season long loan to Huddersfield although whether they go up or not is not seen as an issue to scupper Mooy moving somewhere permanently.

It is reported that a few championship clubs have bid for Mooy and at least one premier league club although without quotes to back the bidding teams up, it’s all hearsay.

Mooy’s agent, Paddy Dominguez, was quoted as saying this about a move:

I’ve had no contact from anybody at Huddersfield regarding Aaron Mooy for next season, that doesn’t mean they won’t contact me, it just means they haven’t to date.

It’s no secret that we’re strengthening for the premier league and it’s no surprise that Moy’s position is one in which we are looking to bolster but for me, it’ll be one of the likes of him or Tom Cairney, not both.

Also, the ball is in Man City’s court as Mooy is one of something like nine midfielders that they have out on loan and with his advancing years, he’s almost certain to be available for the right price.

The price may be the sticking point because the player was valued on sites like TransferMrkt.co.uk as being under £1m last Summer and he has an estimated value of around £10m now.
