Newcastle fans have been reacting on social media to the news the club are yet to agree compensation with Sheffield Wednesday for Steve Bruce.
According to The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, talks are ongoing between the two clubs but have so far failed to conclude a deal.
The Wednesday owner and chairman Dejphon Chansiri is demanding a fee of £5million, and want it all paid in one go, according to The Times.
The Newcastle squad fly out to China this weekend to take part in the Premier League Asia Trophy and it is believed the club want the 58-year-old installed before that.
Bruce, who was only installed as Owls boss in February was linked to the Newcastle job back in 2015. The former Sunderland wants to take over his boyhood club, but judging the reactions of the supporters, they do not.
Many Magpies fans took to Twitter to share their opinions about the deal taking Bruce to St James’ Park has not been concluded as yet.
One stated that the people running the club ‘should be arrested for incompetence and neglect, whilst another added ‘what a joke’ of a situation ‘hopefully they won’t agree’ a deal.
They won’t even pay money for a manager they want to employ. What chance have they got trying to sign players in the next four weeks. #NUFC https://t.co/KqY3RqwJAJ

At this rate it’ll be the tea lady in charge

What a joke….
Hopefully they won’t agree!— Paul Sutcliffe (@PaulSutcliffe80) July 12, 2019
Shoot me down but honestly hope we don’t get him. I hope we get no one. Surely that will send a message out that know one wants this fine club while that man is in charge.

Charnley will spend the next 4 weeks negotiating this compensation package…

tell you what mind. I hope these players are up for a hell of a scrap the season coming if they want to remain in premier league. he’s stripped the only real flair talents we have in the club and left a shell. especially attacking wise. almiron is the only real thing we have left

This is obviously the plan. The fact they don’t want to sign players all but confirms that we are relegated before a ball is even kicked. I’d love to know who Ashley and Charnley think are going to score our goals

It’ll be last day loans all over again. Meanwhile, newly promoted Villa edging towards £100m spent this summer.
