Newcastle drew 1-1 and more than held with own with Leicester City on Wednesday night, but ultimately, it wasn’t to be as the Magpies fell 4-2 on penalties at the end of a tough 90 minutes.

However, it was a strong side that Steve Bruce went with for the clash, as he included new signings Emil Krafth and Jetro Willems as well as the likes of Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey, Fabian Schar and Matt Ritchie.
Had the Geordies made it past Leicester City and into the third round of the cup it would have been thoroughly deserved given the performance, but ultimately it will be the Foxes in the third round and they now face an away trip to face Luton Town.

The fans were clearly quite pleased with their lineup for the clash, and Bruce shouldn’t be blamed for the loss given the way the game went.
