Newcastle have yet to sign anyone this month, and so it’s been a long one for the fans and, indeed, Rafael Benitez. We’ve been a few players short all season long, and it’s showed on the field.
However, our wait appears to be coming to an end. Indeed, according to the BBC, Newcastle are set to land Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron, with the attacking midfielder currently on the way to St James Park in an effort to get the deal over the line.
Almiron had a fantastic year in the MLS last time out, and it’s clear that the Magpies will be securing quite the attacking force if this deal is done.
So far, though, the club have been silent on the rumours, and it’s evident that fans are beginning to get very impatient. Indeed, lots of fans are hijacking all of the content on the Magpies’ social channels, and they’re coming with one very simple demand – announce Almiron! A lack of transfer action seems to be sending them a little bit crazy.
When, or indeed if, an announcement happens remains to be seen, but fans will be glued to their computers all evening, it seems. One fan has even described Almiron as the ‘Paraguayan Messi’. We’ll have to wait and see if that rings true…
